jamie lynn + jay's "all aboard" wedding!

It's the holiday season, and there's nothing better than getting sweet gifts from photographers and clients. In this case, I'm not talking about material things; I'm referring to indulging in creative photos that take me through someone else's memory. Jamie Lynn + Jay shared their link to the wonderful photos captured by Ed and Karen of Atrero Photography.

J+J approached B&W with a special request -- to create one of a kind save-the-dates and custom travel themed invitations. And after two successful projects, J+J wanted to continue the theme and requested we design their paper details suite: ceremony passport booklet programs, reception/menu cards, and postcard themed table numbers.

It's so neat to see something like paper details really bring the entire wedding together. I can vouch for many and say that sometimes it's the invitations that really keep the bride and groom in tune with the design; sometimes, it's the start of the entire vision. From the personal travel theme, cool color palette, and down-to-earth couple, J+J's vision truly came together nicely, making this a travel experience I'm certain they will remember forever. Designing dresses has its challenges, especially if your client is ten years old. I had the honor of creating a junior bridesmaid dress for Megan, my youngest, yet oh-so-sweet, client. Megan is playful, active and just plain silly. Knowing that her preferred types of clothing are tees and jeans, my design had to be comfortable without compromising the girlish sensibility of a junior bridesmaid. With very little direction, I roughly sketched this design which not only made Mommy Allison happy, but had my special client in smiles. Check out the pretty young lady donning her dress in Hawaii for her aunt’s wedding.

D+K's rockin' save-the-date postcard

Remember the styled engagement shoot we worked on with Atrero Photography over the summer? Well. Well. Check out the rockin' save-the-date postcard we designed for D+K. This image came from the first half of their e-session at another hip location scouted by the Atrero team. Simple and modern, this save-the-date is the perfect way to engage their guests, and very cost effective, too! We can't wait to showcase their sexy letterpress wedding invitations. And we definitely can't wait for their big day at the Hard Rock Hotel {Feb 19, '11}, an event we've been working on all year long!

ivory+peach+chocolate wedding invitations

Serena+Parker just tied the knot over the Thanksgiving weekend in San Ramon, and we want to congratulate them and wish the two well in their journey!

B&W had the privilege of working on the smallest invitation project by far -- quantity only 20 -- but like most of our projects, I like to be challenged. Sometimes working with a really small quantity is difficult; printers don't normally take on jobs that require small quantities. So to stay cost effective, we printed digitally on metallic paper. I used layering to help bring dimension to her invitation. The base color was ivory and I knew I needed to create contrast within the invitation. Another element that helped balance the design was the use of an engagement photo that stretched across the front of their insert. Serena's simple request was achieved and it made for a truly sophisticated piece. What makes this job extra special is that we hand made all 20 envelopes. From creating a dieline, to printing the graphics, trimming, and then assembling, these envelopes took almost an entire day to make. In the end, I couldn't be happier with this modern, sophisticated, and lovely invitation. It spoke truly of what Serena+Parker wanted for their big day.












These are the hand made envelopes using ivory metallic paper. We printed one-color on one side using a peach color.
